Get your Bavarian on this weekend with Kimberley’s last First Saturday event: Oktoberfest.

As usual, there will be all kinds of activities happening around town throughout the day.

Start the day off with the annual Kid’s Kazoo Parade at 11:30a.m. at Centre 64. From that point on there will be Bavarian themed entertainment and activities in the Platzl including live music, an art market, workshops and kids activities.

Wildsight’s Sonja Seher will be in the Platzl to demonstrate their apple pressing equipment alongside WildSafe BC Community Coordinator, Danica Roussy, who will be there to share information on reducing human-wildlife conflict.

At 12p.m. at Centre 64 there will be the opportunity to try traditional blacksmithing.

Also at 12p.m., there will be a silent auction fundraiser for Rob Davidson as he continues his battle with cancer and chemotherapy, which will move to the Sullivan Pub at 4p.m..

Check out the strudel eating contest at Chef Bernard’s, the local beer gardens, the Heritage Museum, and the art exhibit at Centre 64.

Head down to Marysville for the Artisans Fall Into Autumn Sale, or head to Centennial Hall for their Harvest Get Together - a baking and produce sale with homemade preserves, chilli, draws and entertainment.

In the evening, there will be activities outside of Centre 64 including the amazing suds race. The race is an obstacle relay for teams of three with all proceeds go to charity and the chance to win a cash prize. From 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. there will be beer, brats and pretzels alongside live music and a dance party - dirndls and lederhosen are encouraged.
