A fundraiser is being held for Rob Davidson this weekend as he continues his battle with Colorectal cancer and chemotherapy.

As many residents in Kimberley know, Davidson was the owner of the Village Bistro. He was diagnosed with stage two colorectal cancer in the winter of 2016.

Starting the following February, he underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy in conjunction with radiation therapy for six weeks at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. Davidson was also accepted into a clinical drug trial while having chemo radiation.

“In mid-May he underwent surgery at the Rockyview Hospital to remove is large intestine and colon. A few hours post-op, complications began and things headed downhill rapidly. He underwent another surgery to repair the damage but at that time it was almost to late; a series of infections set in,” said Davidson’s close friend, Alison Walker. “After time in the ICU and 66 days in hospital, he was released to attend outpatient clinics before returning home.”

Davidson is now back in Kimberley and has started six more cycles of post-op chemotherapy.

“Now into his second chemo cycle things are going well with few side effects and he’s starting to put back some of the 47 pounds he lost during his battle,” Walker said.

On Saturday, Oct. 7 the fundraiser will be held in the Platzl at 196 Spokane Street from 1p.m. to 3p.m. before moving to the Sullivan Pub from 4p.m. to 6p.m.. There will be a bike raffle, tickets cost $5 for one or $10 for three.

“There will be a silent auction with lots of prizes including hotel stays, golf passes, clothing, goody bags and more,” said Walker.

Donations will be accepted until the day of the fundraiser. To donate or for more information contact Walker at 250.602.9162.
