Thanks to a generous $10.000 donation from community member Regan Duckworth, there is a new opportunity for young artists in Kimberley.

The Kimberley Arts Council – Centre 64 is pleased to announce the first-round recipients of the Ducky’s Reward, which provides young artists with up to $2000 each for their creative adventures.

These grants ensure youth are not financially limited in bringing their ideas to fruition, said the Kimberley Arts Council Centre 64 in a statement.

The award winners are:

1. Sarah Metzler, $310 to produce a series of work;

2. Rylee Taggart, $999.99 in funding to buy a Wacom tablet to make a digital art project;

3. Niall Boardman, $1,135 to bring in a Soapstone Carving Workshop;

4. Nicole Cowl, $1,285.88 for a River Bend Art Walk project and exhibition.

The next round of Ducky’s Reward will be this spring.

“We look forward to seeing what these young artists produce,” said Kerri-Jo Buckman, Arts Centre Manager.
