The Kootenay Savings Foundation has provided funding for a number of worthy projects in Kimberley, and with their recent dispersal of $45,000, $5000 of those funds have found their way to the Kimberley Gymnastics Club.
The Kimberley Gymnastics Club Society is currently fundraising to build a new facility, as they have outgrown their current Warren Avenue location.
”Kootenay Savings has put $5000 toward the project, and we are so pleased,” said. Shelley McInroy of the Gymnastics Society. ‘The monies will be kept in trust until 2019 and at the time our status with respect to our readiness will be evaluated. We are still fundraising regularly throughout the year and have have come a long way to go in a short time. To date we have raised $45,000.”
“Sponsors that have helped us to date are:
EK Parks, Teck, KSCU, Summit, Lions Club and of course, the City of Kimberley, who has supported the club for many years. We have received other support from organizations in the past year such as Pacific Coastal Airlines,RCR and VIASport.
“Throughout the year, our member volunteer support and assistance from local businesses helps in the long run as we put money aside for this project. We do receive donations periodically from local people and smaller businesses in the community.
“As a club, we are hopeful and optimistic that we will be able to get this project underway within 5 years.”

The Kootenay Savings Community Foundation was established in 2000 to support non-profit cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social projects. Over $4.2 million in grants, endowments and bursaries have been distributed since then. There are two application deadlines each year, March 31 and September 30.
