New Perspectives: A Celebration of Kootenay Landscape

June 14 - July 20

Seeking new and original artwork that highlights the beauty of the Kootenays!

We encourage you to “think outside of the box” for this — Unique work that explores size, scale, viewpoint and perspective in landscape, all landscape work will be considered.

Where’s Ed? Summer Scavenger Hunt

July 26 – Sept 1

We are seeking 14 artists, individual or groups, to create sculptures/artwork of Cranbrook Ed to be hidden in and around Cranbrook. Sculptures will be hidden both indoors and outdoors.

Great news: Our Afterschool Art Club is back for another 6 sessions! Our Spring programming is underway with many of our classes filling. We still have spots left in several Art Workshop and Pottery Classes. Registration is open on our website.

Did you know Cranbrook Arts is now offering a Class Bursary? We strive to create art experiences that are accessible for everyone. Our Bursary can cover up to 100% of class tuition. The Cranbrook Arts Class Bursary is generously funded by The Rick & Marg Jensen Foundation and Stellar Vista Credit Union.

Spring Book Sale May 3

The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library are holding a book sale in the Manual Training School, adjacent to the Library. Friday, May 3rd is for Friends’ Members only from 3 pm to 5 pm. Saturday, May 4th Everyone is Welcome from 10 am to 4 pm. This is a great place to find your spring reading as well as Dvds, puzzles, games, audiobooks and magazines.

We rely on donations to make our sales a success. Donations can be dropped off at the Welcome Desk in the Library at any time. Good condition is appreciated. Magazines can also be donated if published within the last two years.

All proceeds from the sale go to support the Cranbrook Public Library and its programs.

Blind Date With a Book - Fundraiser Kaleidoscope

Are you ready to mingle, sip, and groove for a good cause? Art Gallery Kimberley has teamed up with Huckleberry Books to raise funds for Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts Festival 2024 while sipping, nibbling, browsing for books, and enjoying live music and more.

They’ve wrapped up stacks (and stacks!) of mystery books, each with a teaser on the package. It’s like a blind date with a book! Wander through the gallery and gift shop to find your perfect literary match while enjoying a drink and nibbling on snacks.

Live Music: Groove to the beats of Kimberley’s newest band, Howard Street Blend.

Secure your spot for $35, which includes a blind date book, your first drink, and a $20 donation to the Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts Festival. Plus, additional books and drinks will be available for purchase to keep the good times rolling. Tickets available at the Gallery.

Mount Baker Wild Theatre Legally Blonde

Key City Theatre May 9 - 12

Based on the 2001 movie of the same name, Legally Blonde is a feel good musical with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach. Elle Woods is a sorority girl who enrolls in Harvard Law school in order to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. Despite many doubts, Elle’s journey at law school defies all expectations while staying true to herself.

This will be one of a kind fundraiser concert. Songs of Canadian greats performed by some of Cranbrook’s best talent. Tunes by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Rush, Tragically HiP are just a small selection of the artists featured.

Harmony Rising - Symphony in the Valley

In the spirit of our ever popular Symphony on the Mountain concerts the SOTK will be hosting a two concert series in July, 2024 including a special outdoor concert at ?AQ’AM in the scenic St. Mary River Valley. Guest artists will include the Numa Ka.kin Drummers with a welcome from Nasuʔkin (Chief) Joe Pierre. As always, with our summer concerts you’ll be entertained with an upbeat program, some familiar and possibly some new to you. Special thanks to PJ Gilhuly, a Ktunaxa artist living in Cranbrook, for the design of our poster.

Senior’s Day at Cranbrook Legion

Every third Wednesday The Cranbrook Legion Branch #24 hosts ‘Senior’s Day at the Legion’. Join ‘Bud’s Friends’ for an hour of Sing-a-long from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. A lunch of great sandwiches and yummy sweet treats is provided and served by the ‘Telus Ambassadors’, Come and join us for an hour of fun and lively singing. If you come with a group you should get there early, (shortly after 1pm) to get a good seat. And it’s free.
