Motor Mountain Nationals returns to Kimberley this summer

Classic cars, maybe some vintage bikes and a whole lot more

Last summer saw the inaugural Motor Mountain Nationals car show in Kimberley and it returns in 2017, bigger and better.

Planned for July 28 and 29, the weekend after JulyFest, a whole lot of additional events have been added to make the entire weekend more enjoyable, says organizer Karen Rempel.

“We’re going to have a pin-up girl contest for both kids and adults,” Rempel said, adding that they are not looking for burlesque costumes. “We want to evoke the old posters from the 50s.”

The action will all be centred in the Howard Street, Wallinger Avenue area. On Friday there will be a refreshment garden in the Centre 64 parking lot, as well as a street party when the cars cruise in. The band Black Diamond will provide live entertainment.

On Saturday, enjoy the car show on Howard Street and Deer Park as well as the pin up contest. And there’s more.

“Motor Mountain Nationals bought the old garage on Boundary Street,” Rempel said. “There will be a beer garden there on Saturday too.”

The idea there is to talk cars, she says. Many of the car owners like nothing better than just sitting back and talking about all the cars on display.

Rempel says she is expecting some 200 cars this year.

“This is an open car show, so any model can be shown. We’re also hoping for some vintage motor bikes as well. It’s going to be a pretty active and fun weekend.”
