Roy passed away peacefully on Sunday,

December 11, 2016 at the age of 91 in Kimberley, BC.

Roy was born on August 27, 1925 in Coleman, AB. He went to school in Coleman and went on to work in the Coal Mines.

Roy married Alma Cyr in Pincher Creek, AB in 1949 and shortly thereafter moved to Kimberley where he worked for Cominco for 32 years.

Roy enjoyed all sports and they were always a big part of his life. He coached minor hockey, baseball and his 2 daughters soft ball team. Roy also enjoyed a little curling, golfing, bocci and cross country skiing. He was a Senior Bowler and made the Provincials – bowling a 400 game! The Montreal Canadiens were his favourite hockey team and his favourite ball player was Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees.

After retirement Roy and Alma travelled extensively. They visited every Canadian Province and every USA State - on either a bus tour or a cruise.

In 2007 Roy moved into Garden View Village and resided there until his passing.

The family wish to thank the staff at Garden View Village and East Kootenay Regional Hospital for the care he received.

Roy is survived by his three children Elaine (Ron), Jo-Anne (Barry) and Glen, six grandchildren Brittany, Anthony, Danielle, Brianna, Brooke and Nikki, two sisters Evelyn Farano and Teresa Korner

along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Alma in September 2009 and his son Gary in March 2009.

A memorial service for Roy will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley at 1:00 pm.
