Ira Zane Beam

January 10, 1923 - October 5, 2017

Zane was born in Erickson, BC on January 10, 1923 and passed away on October 5, 2017 in Cranbrook, BC.

He leaves to mourn his sons Graham (Nadine) Beam, Ar t(Debbie) Beam, Gordon (Nancy) Hnetka and daughter Georgina (John) Paul and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, brothers Bob and Bruce, and sister Jessie, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded by his wife Daisy, son John and infant daughter Dorothy, brother Lefty (Harold), sisters Hazel and Iris.

Zane joined the army in 1941 and was discharged with honour in 1945.

He moved to Cranbrook in 1949. He worked as a logger, mechanic, and co-owner and operator of Beam Building Supplies.

He was very involved with the Eagles and served several terms as president. He enjoyed traveling with "Snuffy" George Stapleton to collect rocks and made many beautiful pieces of jewelry and furniture with these rocks.

He also enjoyed trap shooting and went to many shooting events and competitions with his friend Bill Dunbar. He won the trap shooting championship in Washington State in 1996. He was an ardent hunter, fisherman and gardener.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Green Home for the care they provided.

There will be a celebration of life in the spring of 2018.
