???John Douglas (Doug) Burlington

Surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017 at the age of 75

Doug was born on August 2, 1941 in Weston, Ontario to the late William and Marguerite Burlington. He grew up in a large and loving family with 2 brothers and 4 sisters. As a young man, Doug was full of charm, curious of life and driven to succeed. His determination and hard working nature led to many entrepreneurial pursuits including DJ’s Billiards, Doug’s Hawkwood Automotive and various other ventures.

Doug was an active man, with a sharp wit and adventurous soul. With a love of fast cars and pretty ladies, he truly lived life to the fullest. A skilled golfer and a bit of a pool shark, his days often involved a round of golf and good times with close friends. A generous and selfless man, Doug cared greatly for those around him. He was a loving, thoughtful father and faithful friend to many.

Doug is survived by his daughter Dale Rennie (nee Burlington), two step daughters Dalyce Bergeron and Daena Douglas and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his two brothers Glen, Jim and sister Grace.

With strength and bravery Doug was courageous to the end in his battle with cancer. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support during this difficult time. A special thanks to Dr. Pieterse and the staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital for their care, compassion and respect for Doug’s final wishes.

Family, friends and others whose lives Doug touched are invited to the Kimbrook Manor, Kimberley for a Celebration of His Life Thursday, May 11, from 1-4pm.
