It is with deep sorrow that the family of Kathleen Lowe announces her passing on Monday, December 12, 2016 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 96 years of age.

Kathleen was born in Manchester, England on November 19, 1920. She immigrated to Canada after the war arriving in Halifax

on June 1, 1948 with four small children. They travelled by train to BC a month later. After living in several locations, they finally settled outside Cranbrook in the whistle stop of Wanklyn.

Kathleen worked for the BC Ministry of Forests planting trees. She was awarded a Priory Award for her work with her home based first aid station. Kathleen was a member of Homemakers for many years and helped many Cranbrook families. She volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary for over 20 years, mostly Steepleview Extended Care. After Kathleen moved to Joseph Creek she spent countless hours volunteering at the Care Village.

Kathleen was a devout Christian and she lived with strong faith up until the time she made her transition to Heaven to be with her Lord.

Kathleen is survived by her five daughters Kathryn, Christine (Les), Ailsa (Don), Vivienne (Daniel) and Patsy (Ted), 11 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Harry “Henry”, her daughter Carol, son-in-law John, grandson Jason and her son-in-law Ted.

A memorial service for Kathleen will be held in the summer of 2017. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Kathleen, may do so to the: Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon Okanagan/Kootenays Area Office, #4, 1551 - Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, British Columbia, V1Y 9M9.
