It is with our most profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, and sunshine on Wednesday,October 19, 2016.
Marie Antoinette Roberts was born on a Tuesday in Port Alberni, BC on January 30th, 1940 and she was predeceased by her husband and one true love Tom Roberts in 1990. She lived a life full enjoying her family and immersing herself in her love of nature. Marie
enjoyed the outdoors and everything in it, the birds, the flowers, the mushrooms. She lived in many places throughout her life, Needles, Fruitvale, Trail, Salmo, Benson Lake, Canmore, Bowness (Calgary) and finally Kimberley BC in 1967 where she lived out the remainder of her caring and loving life. Her coffee pot was always full, and her welcome mat was well worn. Marie worked very hard all her life and had many jobs from delivering telegrams in the 1950’s for CPR in Trail to serving tables and cooking until 1974 when she was hired by Cominco. She was the first women hired in operations. She was also a small business entrepreneur, working her businesses while still having other jobs. She owned and operated the gift shop at the Cranbrook Airport, and sold many of her crafts over the years. Her love of gardening and nature was passed down to many of her family, and will live on through them.
Marie is survived by her daughters Rose Kolesnikoff (Tony), Susan Poirier (Yvon) and Cindy Chudy (Fred), son Pat Roberts
(Melinda), her siblings Maurice Borho, Larry Borho, Pat Borho, Theresa Barber and Steve Borho, her 9 grandchildren
Loretta, Renee, Allan, Leeann, Nicole, Danielle, Jason, Mark and Makayla, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased her mother Marjorie St. Dennis.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at the Bootleg Golf Course Clubhouse in Kimberley on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
