Phair, ?Valerie

?Heather Susan

Born September 16, 1956 - passed into the loving arms of her Saviour, Jesus Christ on May 2, 2017.

Valerie was the second of four children born to David and Dorothy Hodgins, in Dryden, Ontario. Although small in stature, she made up for it in spunk. Our father had the traveling bug, so the family moved to many small towns in B.C. during Val’s years growing up, finally settling in Surrey, B.C. After highschool, Val obtained her BA in Recreation from Western Washington University, but found her true love was children, so she went back to college to obtain her Early Childhood Education certificate. After working for several years in Surrey, she moved to Cranbrook to run the Alliance Friendship Daycare in 1990. She retired from the Daycare in 2005 to spend more time with her husband traveling. She loved to walk, canoe and hike, her favourite place being Waterton National Park. Her life was cut short by the debilitating disease of Alzheimers.

She was predeceased by her parents David (2001) and Dorothy (2014), her memory lives on with her husband Bill, siblings Karylla (Sandy), Mark (Julia), Shelley (John). Sisters-in-law Marie (Dan) and Marilyn (Dale), many nieces and nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Greg Andreas, the nurses at the F.W. Green Home for their loving, compassionate care of Val, and also to her many friends who visited her and showed their love.

A memorial service will be held at the Cranbrook Alliance Church on Friday, May 26 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cranbrook Food Bank would be appreciated.
