Kimberley Dynamiters goalie named Player of the Month

According to the KIJHL, Kimberley Dynamiters starting goalie Cody Campbell has been named the Kootenay Conference’s ‘Player of the Month’ for the month of December.

Campbell (born in 1998) made six appearances in net for the Nitros in December, winning all six games and putting up a 1.79 goals against average, a .939 save percentage, and  2 shutouts.

Campbell was acquired by the Dynamiters in late October from the Canmore Eagles of the AJHL where he was serving as the team’s backup goaltender.

Campbell played last season with the Grand Prairie Storm Midget AAA. In 19 games he posted a .905 save percentage. He also dressed one game with the AJHL Grand Prairie Storm, in which he posted a .895 save percentage.

In 13 career starts in the KIJHL, Campbell now has a record of  10 wins, two losses, and was relieved of his duties midway through a game only once.

Nitros forward Nolan Kurylo was also awarded by the KIJHL with an honourable mention for the month’s top player.

Kurylo joined the team at the start of the month, also coming down from Canmore, and has piled up an impressive seven goals, five assists, three power play goals and 2 shorthanded goals in nine games.

The Dynamiters are back in action on Friday, January 6 at 7 p.m. when they make a rare home appearance at the Cranbrook Memorial Arena.
