Mowat Cup: Revelstoke Grizzlies narrowly beat Ridge Meadows Flames in Game 3

The Revelstoke Grizzlies win their second game of the Mowat Cup, warding off a late-game press from the Ridge Meadows Flame to secure a 2-1 win, the closest margin of victory so far this tournament.

Both of Revelstoke’s goals came in the first period. Luke Aston nabbed his first of the tournament halfway through the first, and then with just two seconds left on the clock, Ethan Coventry scored on the power play.

After defeating the Kimberley Dynamiters 7-0 the night before, perhaps fatigue played a factor in the Flames’ early-game play, but they turned things around after the first.

The second period went without a goal as both teams successfully killed their penalties. Jack Foster would score the Flames’ sole goal of the night halfway through the third. Ridge Meadows continued to put the pressure on and eventually pulled their goalie, but Revelstoke’s Jozef Kuchaslo didn’t let another goal past him and helped his team secure their second win of the tournament.
