Mowat Cup: Ridge Meadows Flames beat Saanich Predators 5-2

The Ridge Meadows Flames beat the Saanich Predators 5-2 in the fifth game of the Mowat Cup, the Preds’ third loss of the tournament.

The Flames dominated the first portion of the game, beginning with a first period goal from Taylor Chiu. Tyler Blatz made it 2-0 early in the second and solid defence from the Flames only allowed the Predators to get three shots on net up until that point.

The game got a lot more scrappy as the Predators started to show their frustration. The Flames capitalized with a power play goal from Evan Fedele.

The Flames tacked on one more seven minutes into the third, but the Predators showed their resilience and started making better passes and working their systems more effectively resulting in two goals and a glimmer of hope midway through the final period.

An empty netter unfortunately sealed their fate and the Flames took a commanding 5-2 win.
