Wildsight Kimberley/Cranbrook will once again be helping you harvest apples this season, to keep down wildlife attractants.

If you’d like volunteer community members to come by and pick your tree before wildlife does, head over to the Tree Share Board and sign up.

You can also check that web page for trees available for picking. The harvest is yours.

Wildsight also shares equipment for pruning, picking, pressing and maintaining fruit tree.

Also keep an eye out for 2022 pick and press events. There will be a number of them as fruit begins to ripen. Keep an eye on the website for exact dates.

Last year volunteers managed to pick almost 2400 lbs of apples. Join Wildsight again this fall to harvest even more. Bring your gloves, hats snacks and water bottles, and something warm if it’s a cool day. And if you can bring along a truck and a ladder, even better.

This year, the program will be overseen by Ali Hadikin, the new Cranbrook Coordinator.

Several community picking and pressing events will be held throughout September and October in both Kimberley and Cranbrook. Volunteers of all abilities and experience levels are welcome to join these events. All Kimberley events will begin at the Kimberley Community Garden on Rotary Drive (just south of the Kimberley Aquatic Centre) and all Cranbrook events will begin at the Cranbrook Public Produce Garden at 710 18 Ave N.

The goal for 2022 is to raise more awareness about this program so that Wildisght can conduct more well-attended picking and pressing events.
