There are many Kimberley residents who can’t wait together their hands in the dirt each year and get the garden planted.

Wildsight Kimberley/Cranbrook, in partnership with the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank and the Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot, are asking you to plan a little extra this year.

The Plant a Row, Share a Row program asks gardeners to grow an extra row of fresh fruits or vegetables for the food banks. This will help increase the quantity and quality of fresh food amiable to those who access local food services.

• Plant an extra row of seeds than you normally would.

• Nurture your garden as usual.

• At harvest time, remove as much dirt as you are able.

• Take your produce to the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank or Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot.

• Be sure to let them know that your donation is designated for the Plant a Row, Share a Row program so it can be weighed accordingly.

Wildsight Kimberley/Cranbrook even has a gardeninag expert, Chad Kile, available for advice. You can contact him at chad@wildsight.ca
