Annie, the popular comic strip heroine, will be featured in the spotlight in one of the world’s best-loved musicals.

Annie is a bold and energetic young orphan who was left in a run-down New York orphanage years ago. Determined to find her parents, Annie befriends a mutt named Sandy, escapes the clutches of cruel Miss Hannigan, and finds refuge in the home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks and his secretary Grace Farrell.

The heartwarming plot and lovable characters have made “Annie” one of the most well-known musicals in history. Such memorable musical numbers include “It’s a Hard Knock Life”, “Tomorrow”, “Little Girls”, and “I Think I’m Going To Like It Here”.

“Annie” will take centre stage at Key City Theatre on March 1 and 2. With a cast of more than 40 talented students, the upbeat singing, dancing, and acting will surely move you. Jamie Byram will play the role of the spirited, yet vulnerable, Annie. Miss Hannigan, the orphanage owner who we love to hate, will be played by Caylee Lazar. With Andrew Shubert cast as billionaire Mr. Warbucks and Michaela Eckersley as his assistant, Grace Ferrell, the cast is filled with plenty of dynamic performers.

Parkland is also offering members of the community a chance to “Adopt an Orphan”.

For $25, you’ll receive an autographed photo of the orphan you chose to adopt and your name will be added to the program, thanking you for helping to make the performance happen.

If you are interested in “adopting an orphan,” please contact Rick Bendkowski at Parkland Middle school (250-426-3327).

Tickets are now on sale at Key City Theatre. Phone 250-426-7006. Adults are $12, students are $10.

This is definitely a show that no family should miss!
