Switchback Entertainment filming for Salomon TV this week at Kimberley Alpine Resort

The Godfather of Freeskiing, Mike Douglas, along with Anthon Bonello and Leo Hoorn, of Switchback Entertainment is at Kimberley Alpine Resort with Mike Gamble and a crew, plus three World Cup skiers to film a couple of ski videos for Salomon TV. The names of the videos will be The Art Of The Turn #3 and #4. Check out the first two Art of the Turn videos online. The first one has hit almost 4 million views, the highest number of any episode on Salomon TV EVER!

These films are about beautiful on-piste carving on well-manicured groomed slopes (and as we all know, Kimberley has some of the best grooming around, which is part of why they chose Kimberley)! Ski videos aren’t always about big backcountry lines or epic air, sometimes they are about showcasing the perfect turn. The focus of the films are to shoot the best skiers in the world at high speed, and in slow-motion, highlighting the athletes’ amazing carving abilities and angulation. Beautiful to watch!

Parts of the video are being filmed in super slow motion of about 1000 frames per second, for example 5 seconds of regular speed video is equivalent to 3-5 minutes of slow motion filming and a 5 second slow motion shot consumes about 10gb of data.

These are the world class skiers who are currently onsite:

Bastiene Midol – French Skier Cross Skier, and currently the best in the world as he won medals in 8 of the 11 World Cup competitions this year, earning him the overall World Cup Skier Cross crystal globe for the 2018-2019 season!

Marielle Berger Sabbatel – French skier cross skier and Olympian with 9 World Cup podium finishes in skier cross.

Davide Simoncelli – Former World Cup Alpine Ski Racer and Olympian from Italy who specialized in Giant Slalom. He has two World Cup victories and eight podium finishes.

Please make sure to make them all feel welcome if you run in to them on the resort or down in town.
