Kimberley’s highly anticipated by-women for-women show Lilith is back for its 19th year, running March 7, 8 and 9 at Centre 64.

This year’s show falls on International Women’s Day, Friday March 8, and the Lady’s Leg Dancers say they couldn’t think of a better way to build up and celebrate women in the community.

This year’s show sold out in record time, with Saturday night tickets selling out in just 12 hours.

“We are blown away by the support of our community, our volunteers and our show goers and we are so excited to present Lilith 2019,” said Emily Gilmar of the Lady’s Legs.

As always, proceeds from the event will be donated back to the community. For those who are attending this year, organizers will be collecting feminine hygiene products, baby products and food bank donations at the door for the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank.

The audience can expect the same format as usual; a variety show that showcases and celebrates women’s talents with a mix of professional and amateur performers.

“It’s always a female cast and always includes a few surprises,” Gilmar said. “I won’t give too much away, but this year you’ll see dancing, singing, spoken word, photography and even an appearance by a mystery guest who will leave the audience in a state of wonder.

“The market has also grown this year and will feature vendors from communities all over the East Kootenay. We are so excited to feature some new female vendors and also excited to shop their wares. Don’t forget to bring cash as most vendors are cash only.”

The Lady’s Leg Dancers have been choreographing and rehearsing their own two acts in the show since September. They pulled the whole cast together two weekends ago for the technical rehearsal.

“This is always an exciting day as you get to see the show come together and everyone gets a chance to meet each other, some for the first time,” explained Gilmar.

As many locals know, the Lady’s Leg Dancers took over for the Steppin’ Out Dancers in 2016. Gilmar says the ladies hope to continue to plan the amazing event for years to come.

The Lady’s Leg Dancers group consists of Kylee Ablett, Lauren Rokosh, Emily Gilmar, Corissa Pasiechnyk, Kelsey Fabro, Jill Schacher, Elli Bamsey, Hayley Simkins, Alex Ablett, Kylie Newton, Tessa Rokosh, Megan Strachan-Garrels, Danielle Roe and Taylor White.
