CBT culture tour and an art walk weekend of Aug. 10 and 11

The Columbia Basin Culture Tour is coming up on Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11. Area residents can take self-guided tours of art studios, museums, art galleries, heritage sites and more — for free.

If a visit to Kimberley is on the agenda, you’ll want stop by the Kimberley Friends Art Collective to view a unique variety of local art. Featured for the tour is Kimberley artist George C. Hogg, who has had a long, distinguished art career. The exhibit at the Collective will be a sneak peak at his upcoming solo exhibition at Centre 64 this fall. Hogg is known for his landscapes, wildlife portrayals and western themed works.

Along with other artists of the Collective, Mr. Hogg will also be present on both days from 1-4pm to engage with visitors and discuss his work in person.

Kimberley Friends Art Collective is located lower level, 196 Spokane Street (Gallery Entrance from the Platzl Parking Lot)

The same weekend, head to River Bend Lane on St. Mary Lake road for a pedestrian Art Walk event. Park at the Sunflower Hill trail head and stroll down to look at work from over 20 local Kimberley/Cranbrook artists. Music will be provided by Don Erhardt, bread Peddler baking will be available as will Fantails Mobile Espresso Bar. Any questions, call Colleen Friesen at 604-836-7790.
