Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) is closed to traffic in both directions due to a collision involving multiple vehicles.

The section between Canyon-Lister Road and Lakeview Arrow Creek Road (5 kilometres east of Creston, just past Mountain Park Resort) has been closed since approximately 6:30 a.m.

Emergency crews will remain at the scene for most of today, said Cpl. James Grandy.

Estimated time of re-opening is 6 p.m. PDT.

The alternate route of Lakeview Arrow Creek Road is available to smaller vehicles but prohibited to large campers, motor homes, semis, and buses due to steep switchbacks. A semi jackknifed on a curve earlier this morning and blocked the road for several hours, according to bystanders. Drivers are advised the speed limit on the detour is 60 km/h.

The next update is expected at 7:30 p.m. PDT via www.drivebc.ca.
