The Kimberley Indoor Tennis Courts, located at Selkirk Secondary School, have launched a community sponsorship program. Funds are being raised for upgrades to the heating system, court resurfacing and roof repairs.
The first sponsor to step forward was Bootleg Gap Golf Course with a $750 donate.
The indoor tennis courts were originally located at the Kimberley Ski Resort and in 2001 was sold. The KITC was relocated in 2005 to its present site on Selkirk Secondary School property. The KITC is operated and maintained by the Kimberley Indoor Sports Centre Society, a community non profit organization run by tennis playing volunteers.
A Joint Use Agreement is in place where Selkirk Secondary School has exclusive use of the facility during the school day and tennis courts are made available to the tennis playing community outside of school hours.
Clint Dolgopol, Principal, Selkirk Secondary School commented “Selkirk Secondary School is fortunate to have a partnership with the Kimberley Indoor Tennis Centre KITC which allows us use of the facility during the school day. It is an integral piece of our Physical and Heath Education programming at the school, helping to support and promote healthy living.”
