No surprises in final votes tally for Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies

Conservative MP Rob Morrison addresses supporters in Cranbrook after winning re-election in Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies.

Rob Morrison earned just over 50 per cent of the vote in the race for Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies, according to Elections Canada.

The final vote count shows the Conservative MP garnered 36,081 votes to win his re-election in the April 28 federal election. Votes from five remaining ballot boxes had not been counted on the Elections Canada website prior to May 5.

Reggie Goldsbury had the Liberal Party's best showing in the riding with 20,184 votes, followed by the NDP's Kallee Lins with 12,871.

Steven Maffioli of the Green Party finished fourth with 1,064 votes, ahead of independent candidate Jim Wiedrick (856) and Laurie Baird of the People's Party of Canada (486).

The riding received 73 per cent voter turnout, with 71,542 ballots cast.
