Cranbrook’s newest citizen joined the rest of us early Thursday morning, Jan. 2.

Rex Moir, the first baby born at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in 2025, was born at 2:52 a.m., Jan. 2, a young man of eight pounds, two ounces — and we are all so glad to see him. Parents are Nita and Nami Moir of Cranbrook.

The Cranbrook Townsman, Kimberley Bulletin and Black Press welcomes Rex and all babies born in this year, and wish all the best to this new generation.
