Kimberley braves the heatwave to celebrate JulyFest

“We had an amazing turnout this year for JulyFest considering the heat,” said Kimberley Chamber of Commerce president and JulyFest organizer Becky Warkentin. “We were so happy to everyone that came out with this 36 degree weather.

“We had an amazing turnout this year for JulyFest considering the heat,” said Kimberley Chamber of Commerce president and JulyFest organizer Becky Warkentin.
“We were so happy to everyone that came out with this 36 degree weather. Everyone was a little bit too hot, but it was really great. We had an amazing kid’s zone this year, everyone seemed to really like where we put the bocce pits again, so that was a really great thing.”
The festival added a misting station and a hydration station, which was conveniently placed right next to the bar, which were much appreciated additions to this year’s scorching weekend.
The festival featured a ton of great musical acts including local legends The Honeymans, amongst a list of other great regional bands such as Velvet Vixen, Leather Apron Revival, Half Spent, Oliver McQuaid and the Tumbleweeds and many more.
The headlining act for this year was the extremely talented The Pack AD, a female two-piece powerhouse from Vancouver who have been active for nearly 20 years.
The weekend also featured the annual JulyFest Soccer Tournament, which was also well attended despite the insane heatwave.
Riding Rails was the champion team of this year’s annual Bocce Tournament, which saw dozens of teams clad in hilarious themed costumes compete for three days.
“The bands were absolutely amazing,” Warkentin said. “We have some shoutouts, number one to the City for all their help getting this all set up. All of our sponsors have been amazing. Our amazing volunteers, everyone that showed up and our coordinators this year have just been incredible to put on one of the biggest and best JulyFest’s that have been around the parts, so pretty happy with how it all went.”
