The Mark Creek Lions are all set for the annual Marysville Daze, the beloved local festival this year scheduled for Saturday, June 7 at Lions Park, located at 303 Street and 308 Avenue.

The event will kick off with the annual pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., with the vendor market to open at 9 a.m. and the beer gardens at the ball diamonds opening at 11 a.m.

Mark Creek Lions secretary Erin Thompson said this year's event will see the return of all the usual favourites, including the fully-booked vendors' market, the food trucks — featuring a few new ones this year, plus the Kimberley Pipe Band and a huge Kids' Zone.

"We love to see the locals and tourists alike out supporting the Mark Creek Lions Club," Thompson said. "This important event helps raise money that stays in our community and directly supports those locals in need."

Thompson added that the Mark Creek Lions have seen a decline in membership, so they are actively recruiting new members to help with important community fundraisers such as Marysville Daze.

"Volunteerism is something has seemed to decline with younger generations, so we are definitely seeking new young members to keep this tradition alive," she said, adding the Lions have lots of new ideas they'd like to bring to fruition for Marysville Daze, but they need new members to make them happen.

This event specifically is all set for volunteer this year, but if you are interested in helping out, or joining the Lions, you can contact erin.markcreeklions@gmail.com or bailey.markcreeklions@gmail.com

Marysville Daze is a go for Saturday, June 7, rain or shine and the event is dog friendly. Bring cash and think about buying a 50/50 ticket: they are a huge fundraiser for the Lions.

There will also be a Lions booth set up in the vendor market, so if you'd like to learn more, you are encouraged to stop by for a chat.
