Art Gallery Kimberley is currently hosting a solo exhibit from local artist Darcy Wanuk, entitled "When Art Meets Fashion."

This exhibit, which began June 12 and runs until July 6, showcases Wanuk's blend of textile work with modern design. As wel as being a fibre artist, Wanuk is also a clothing designer and jeweller.

“I love the challenge of exploring new ideas and techniques,” Wanuk said. “Being a fashionista, I was frustrated never being able to find designs that matched my style—so I decided to make them myself.”

Art Gallery Kimberley describes Wanuk's career as being "rooted in curiosity and a fearless exploration of new techniques." In addition to the aforementioned mediums, she has recently been pushing her own creative boundaries and incorporating things like silversmithing into her work.

This latest work features bold and elegant handmade fibre-based pieces, as well as jewellery and other designs that express her unique perspective.

“I am constantly learning and researching my craft to provide the highest quality product,” she said. “It’s great to share my designs with the world and see collectors’ smiles.”

Visitors to Art Gallery Kimberley, located in the Platzl at 167 Deer Park Ave., can expect to see an imaginative collection fusing art and fashion.

The gallery will also be hosting a meet and greet with Wanuk on Saturday, June 28 from 2-4 p.m.
