December is here and what better way to kick it off than the annual free community skate day, hosted by the Kimberley Dynamiters and the City of Kimberley, giving kids and families the chance to skate with the team and meet Santa Claus.
The beloved event has been going on for many years in Kimberley, and this year was sponsored by Kootenay Disaster Restoration and Cosmos Counselling Clinic.
The City provides the ice time for free, and the entire Dynamiters team was on the ice, sporting Santa hats, when they weren't being plucked off by speedy little skaters.
The organization gave an extra shout-out to the team for their enthusiasm they shared with the community this year, considering they didn't get home until 11:30 a.m. after their bus ride home from their Saturday-night game in Revelstoke was delayed due to a closure on Rogers Pass.
Santa was there to take pictures with the kids and hear their Christmas wishes, with Dynaniters advertising and sponsorship manager Shari Reid on hand to give out candy bags to the over 100 children who attended.
