Kimberley's annual Terry Fox run was held on Sunday, Sept. 15. This year the run drew around 75 participants and raised around $2000, with online participants still being tallied, according to Lisa Cox.
This was the first year Cox organized the event, having being passed the torch from former Kimberley City Councillor Darryl Oakley.
"This was my inaugural year organizing the run and I definitely hope to grow the event," Cox told the Bulletin. "I would like to explore the opportunity to move the event to an area like the Nordic Centre and pull it off of the road. There currently aren't runs in neighbouring communities like Cranbrook and Invermere, so it would be great to find a way to get the word out to folks there that would like to participate."
Cox expressed her gratitude to all the volunteers who helped make the event possible, as well as Save-On-Foods and Stoke Market for providing snacks.
