The Kootenay Outdoor Recreation Enterprise Initiative (KORE) has hired three new people: (clockwise) Jayme Moye, Riley Wilcox and Christian Rawles.

The Kootenay Outdoor Recreation Enterprise Initiative (KORE) recently hired three new people to their ranks, filling positions created to work with executive director "Powder" Matt Mosteller, thanks to funding from the provincial government's Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP).

The new hires will also be working with KORE's network of outdoor recreation production manufacturers and designers throughout the Kootenays.

They are: business advisor Christian Rawles, events coordinator Jayme Moye and resource coordinator Riley Wilcox.

Riley Wilcox has been hired as KORE's resource coordinator. Wilcox has two decades of experience with non-profit management and will be working collaboratively with the business advisor and events coordinator to connect the organization's membership to business resources, workshops, webinars and funding opportunities.

She is a patrol lead and instructor with the Canadian Ski Patrol and an advocate for children who need specialized medical treatments outside of their Kootenay communities.

"The Kootenay region is gaining so much momentum and it is awesome to witness,” Wilcox said. “I am excited to help position KORE at the forefront of growth in the outdoor rec-tech sector.”

Christian Rawles, KORE's new business advisor, will provide their members with access to regular business advertising. He has 20 years of experience working in the outdoor industry, including 15 years as the owner of Ambler Mountain Works. Rawles will work directly with the organization's members to offer guidance on scaling their businesses, while working to solve challenges and identify opportunities for growth.

Jayme Moye has already been involved with KORE as the host of their Outdoors Speaker Series. She will now expand her role in the new year as events coordinator for the West Kootenay. She will continue producing the Speaker Series, while also head up KORE's presence at local events including Coldsmoke Powderfest at Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson.

She has worked for 15 years in the outdoor industry, primarily as an adventure journalist writing for prestigious publications such as Outside, National Geographic and Canadian Geographic.  She founded the Nelson Speaker Series, a non-profit that works to bring mountain sport and culture storytellers to the West Kootenays.
