Military Ames, in partnership with Ret'd Sgt. Sue Harvey, will host Driving Forward — From Service to Support, The Warrior Resiliency Program on Friday, June 6.
Harvey, who is both a US Army Veteran and a 13-year veteran of the RCMP, will lead this clinic that addresses the mental health challenges faced by military personnel, RCMP and first responders, through the use of sport and human performance. This includes better decision making in high-stress situations.
The clinic also has an emphasis on the impact of operational stress injuries and the healing role of service dogs.
The clinic, which will be held at Purcell Golf on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is designed for anyone with or without Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), or who has an interest in service dogs. It will emphasize mental wellness and peer support.
Harvey will share insights garnered from her own personal experience with PTSD as well as medical retirement.
"If you are Military, RCMP or a First Responder, retired or still Serving this is for you," said Cindy Postnikoff of Military Ames. "In the very least, you will walk away with some valuable insights and a fun day. We sincerely hope you will accept this invitation and look forward to a successful day."
Lunch at the event will be hosted by Military Ames.
