Wildfire near Cranbrook under control

One property evacuated as wildfire sparks near Wycliffe on Wednesday, July 2

A wildfire is under control after being actioned by firefighters on a property that was evacuated near Cranbrook in the afternoon of July 2.

Police conducted a tactical evacuation at a property in the 3000 block area of Mission Wycliffe Road, while Emergency Support Services was also tasked with assisting affected evacuees.

BC Wildfire responded with approximately 10 firefighters as the fire only grew to roughly half a hectare in size.

The evacuated residents were able to return to their property by later in the evening.
