Over 200 skiers take part in Brew Ski at Kimberley Nordic Club

Skiers enjoyed craft beer from five local breweries while skiing a six-kilometre loop.

The second-annual Brew Ski at the Kimberley Nordic Club (KNC) was a resounding success, drawing over 200 skiers for a day of skiing, beer and music.

Participants came out to ski a six-kilometre loop all while sampling the best craft beer Kimberley and Cranbrook brewers have to offer. There were stations from the brand-new Kimberley Brewing Co., as well as Over Time Beer Works, Encore Brewing, Grist and Mash, Encore and Fisher Peak.

KNC took to social media this week to say that the event was "an absolute party" and a "ton of fun."

Following the ski, there was a barbecue with music from Kimberley's Lennan Delaney.

"We would like to thank all of our amazing volunteers for helping out and making this event possible," KNC said. "We would also like to thank Kimberley Brewing Company, Grist and Mash Brewery, Overtime Beer Works, Encore Brewing, and Fisher Peak Brewing for providing the beer, and Stoke Market for the pretzels.

"This event is a great way to end winter with a bang, we are already looking forward to Brew Ski 2026."

In addition to being a fun, season-ending party, all proceeds from the Brew Ski are going towards the purchse of a new groomer for KNC's trails.

Looking ahead, the KNC is currently hiring for their summer 2025 trail crew. These positions will work for 24 hours a week for a total of 20 weeks. The shifts are mainly eight-hours throughout the week, with work beginning in May and continuing through June, followed by a six week break through July and August, to prevent the crew from working in the hottest part of the summer.

Work resumes the second week of August and continues through the end of October.

"Our trail maintenance begins as soon as the snow melts, and the Summer trail crew plays a key role in getting our trails ready for next ski season," they said. "Duties include brush sawing, wood chipping, surface grading, trail resurfacing, trail signage maintenance, tractor operation and general trailhead infrastructure repairs. Chainsaw and brush saw training will be provided during the first week of employment."

If you are interested in working with KNC, you are encouraged to send your resume and cover letter to manager@kimberleynordic.org by Sunday, April 6.
