Military Ames recently presented a Quilt of Valour to Retired Leading Airman Tom Horne.
Cindy Postnikoff, of Military Ames, said it was a "real pleasure" presenting Horne the quilt among a gathering of friends and family.
"He signed up in Service to us all at the age of just 17 years," Postnikoff told The Bulletin. "Tom spent five years in the Royal Canadian Navy which he loved. To be closer to home he re-mustered into the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he would spend another six years working in crash rescue and as a firefighter.
"Tom looks back on his time in Service with pride. We thank you for your honourable and faithful service, Tom."
Postnikoff extended her gratitude to Debbie Donnon, Tanis Rye and Laura Bole from Sew Creative, who make these beautiful quilts for Kimberley's veterans, and those who still serve, all by donation.
"They are a true work of heart and we can't thank you enough," Postnikoff said.
