The Kimberley Dynamiters are currently sitting on top of the standings in their division.

The Kimberley Dynamiters have acquired Remy Spooner, a 20-year-old forward from the Hawkesbury Hawks of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), in exchange for future considerations.

Originally from Kelowna, Spooner has also played with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL and the Powell River Kings and Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL.

"Remy has valuable experience playing full seasons in both the BCHL and AJHL," said Dynamiters head coach Derek Stuart. "He is a good skater and is very skilled. We're counting on him to contribute to our primary scoring and also provide some veteran leadership."

Spooner joins a team that Stuart feels is in a very good place. The Dynamiters are looking for redemption after a nearly unprecedented first-round eliminations from last season's playoff run, after winning the Teck Cup the season before.

They currently have a record of 14-6-3 this season and are sitting on top of Eddie Mountain division with 31 points, four clear of the Fernie Ghostriders in second.

"We're in a good spot right now leading our division, two points from leading our conference and currently fifth overall," Stuart said. "We are learning how to compete consistently. The majority of our losses this season have been because of our actions, not our opponents. Things we can control.

"When we limit giving our opponents free chances and free power plays we usually get the result we want."

The Dynamiters next games are on the road: in Revelstoke on Saturday, Dec. 6 and Spokane on Saturday, Dec. 7. Their next home game in on Tuesday, Dec. 10 against the Golden Rockets.
