Following a 5-1 defeat on Monday, the Kimberley Dynamiters bounced back with a huge 5-2 win on Tuesday night in Invermere, giving them a momentous 3-1 lead in their series with the Columbia Valley Rockies, as the battle for the Teck Cup rages on.
"We were much more determined in Game 4," said head coach, general manager Derek Stuart. "We play much better as a series moves along. Last night was our best game of the series thus far."
Remy Spooner, who was acquired from the Hawkesbury Hawks of the CCHL in December, opened the scoring in the first period with his third goal of the post-season. He has been a key player in the team's playoff success, with seven points in the last five games, including two game-winning goals.
"Remy is finding ways to get timely goals for us," Stuart said. "He's a big game player and is feeling it right now."
Trey Stephenson scored a mere 19 seconds after Spooner giving the Nitros a 2-0 lead after the first.
The Rockies fought back, capitalizing on a second period power play, and tying things up eight minutes into the third, setting the stage for Spooner to score the game winner. A goal from Nate Murdoch and an empty netter from Tyler Lindal, his first goal of the post season, made it 5-1 giving the Dynamiters the win, a commanding series lead and momentum heading into Game 5.
