The Kimberley Nordic Club (KNC) is preparing to host the Canada Cup Western Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships at the end of January and they have put out the call for volunteers.
This is a premier race event scheduled for Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, with the club expecting to see over 500 skiers register. These athletes will be accompanied by families, coaches and support staff.
In order to ensure this year's event runs as smoothly as when the club held it in 2023, they will need over 200 volunteers per day.
"This multi-day event cannot be pulled off without the help of our incredible volunteers," said KNC manager Daniel Childress. "We welcome anybody who is available to volunteer, no previous experience is required."
There are numerous positions you can sign up for, from set-up, assisting with parking, to coordinating awards ceremonies.
Perks of volunteering include:
•Hot lunch the day of your shift(s)
•Knowing you are contributing to making this event a big success!
•Forming community and having fun with your fellow volunteers
•Getting to see amazing athletes giving it their all!
• Endless gratitude from us for volunteering!
