'A dream come true:' Jenkins wins first Club Championship at 83

Team Jenkins have won the 2025 Club Championships at the Kimberley Curling Club.

The team is: Skip - Gord Jenkins, Third - Robin Aitkens, Second - David Hockly, Lead - Nicole Halasz. This was the first club championship for all of them, including Jenkins who is 83 this year.

"What a great opportunity for our team to represent Wednesday Night Mixed curling in the club championship," Jenkins said. "I am so proud of our team with everyone playing so well."

The team all play in the club's Wednesday-night mixed league. Hockly subbed for their regular second.

"Mark Carter is our regular second for league play but Dave Hockly stepped in to replace Mark Carter who was unavailable for the championship," Jenkins said. "I have been honoured to present this trophy several times in years past to other teams and it's a dream come true to add our names.

"At 83 I am so grateful to be able to still enjoy playing the game and the great folks who call our club home. Many thanks to Blair Jarvis, our curling club manager and to the club members for the wonderful year."

The 2025 Club Championships saw eight teams competing, with participants from each of their evening leagues and one from their Daytimers.

Team Jenkins beat the O'Rourke team in the final.
