In what shouldn't be a surprise to anyone in Cranbrook or Kimberley, the Heidout Restaurant and Brewhouse was recently noticed by the Food Network in a list of the top brewpubs in Canada.

The Heidout joins a list of 10 other brewpubs across the country from larger cities, such as the Big Rock Brewery in Calgary and the Canoe Brew Pub in Victoria.

Unveiled a few days ago, the list identifies the top spots where people can sit down and sip on beers that were made in the same vicinity.

The Heidout has been making their own beer under the Fisher Peak Brewing Co. since the brewhouse was unveiled in 2013.

Within the brewpub walls lies a state-of-the-art microbrewery. Upstairs, guests can see the beginning stages of the brewing process (Brew Kettle and Lauter Tun). Downstairs houses three fermentation tanks, six conditioning tanks and five serving tanks.

Milling is done in-house and fillers, adjuncts and/or artificial preservatives never touch the beer.

The Food Network Canada review singles out the Strawberry Blonde Ale and the Helles unfiltered pilsner and the option to grab a growler of your favourite beer to take home.

The review can be read here.
