Beware of fraud

Local businesses that require crane, hoist and lift inspections have been defrauded in the past and may be targeted.

The Cranbrook RCMP is warning local businesses to be aware of fraud.

In a letter circulated by the Cranbrook and District Chamber of Commerce, S/Sgt Dave Dubnyk warns local business that require crane, hoist and lift inspections have been defrauded in the past and may be targeted.

Information was received by the local detachment that an uncertified business may be offering inspection services without proper documentation and certification.

The RCMP is asking business to be diligent when vetting potential companies that may be conducting inspections.

Police urge businesses to ensure that any potential inspection companies have the proper certification and documentation for doing such work.
