Car wash proposed for Marsden Street

Interested parties can speak for or against next Monday, 7 p.m.

There will be a public meeting around a zoning amendment at the next regular meeting of Kimberley City Council on March 24. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers.

At that time, Council will deliberate a zoning change to allow a car wash to be built at 347 Marsden Street. The first reading of the bylaw to change the zoning from its current C-1 commercial to C-3 commercial automobile was passed on Monday night.

The site is just beside the Baptist Church on Marsden and the applicant proposes to use the rear lane for entry to the car wash and Marsden Street for exit. The car wash building will be set back far enough to allow vehicles to fully exit the building before turning onto the street. It will be set back enough on the lane side to allow two cars to line up.

The proposed height of the building is 7.5 metres. The zoning would allow for 9.1 m.

Anyone wishing to speak for or against the car wash will have an opportunity at Council on March 24.
