Police say charges are pending for the driver of the vehicle.

Charges are pending for the driver of a vehicle which hit a tree on Gerry Sorensen Way in the early hours of Thursday morning, police say.

Cpl. Chris Newel of the Kimberley RCMP says that police and first responders were called to the scene of the accident, just past the main entrance to the Kimberley Alpine Resort, at 1 a.m.

“It appears the vehicle hit the gravel and lost control,” Newel said. “There was a single male occupant, a Kimberley resident, although the vehicle was registered in Saskatchewan.

“Alcohol is believed to be involved,” Newel.

The driver did go to hospital but was later released.

“The accident is still under investigation and charges are pending.”
