The City of Kimberley is urging residents to continue to choose water use needs wisely as the Mark Creek Dam is barely keeping up with demand right now.
“This is just cautionary, no need to panic,” said Mayor Don McCormick. “It’s really a continuation of the low water we had last fall. Until we get into the freshet, we ask for continued water conservation.”
Those measures will continue as Council enacted an updated water conservation strategy last fall. The freshet should be normal, as snow packs in the East Kootenay were at 98 per cent of normal as of the March survey.
