City of Kimberley fire ban

Hazardous conditions continue as City follows province on fire ban

Following the imposition of a campfire ban by the Southeast Fire Centre/ BC Wildfire Protection Branch Tuesday, the City of Kimberley has also banned any campfires or burning in city limits.

“We will be banning any open burning within the City,” said Assist. Chief Rick Prasad. “All fire permits will be suspended until further notice. This includes all annual fire pit permits, campground fire pits and any special occasion permits. The burning restriction will remain in place until the currently hazardous fire conditions improve.”

Prasad says the Kimberley Fire Department has already responded to several potential problems this season.

“We would like to thank the public for their diligence in notifying them of any and all concerns,” he said. “Please continue to help by reporting any suspected fires before they become an issue.”

This Fire Ban includes all Back Yard Barbecue Pits, the Kimberley Riverside Campground and Camp Stone.

The Fire Ban within the City of Kimberley does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.
