Cranbrook man charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm

Man also charged with Uttering Threats, Breach of Probation and Fail to Comply with a Recognizance

On November 19th, 2014, Cranbrook RCMP received a report alleging that a female subject had been held against her will and assaulted at a local residence overnight. Officers immediately responded and a coordinated effort between the general duty and plain clothes officers lead to a very quick arrest of the suspect. The investigation resulted in a 32 year old man being taken into custody and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats, Breach of Probation and Fail to Comply with a Recognizance.

The victim had been socializing with another individual in Cranbrook when the alleged suspect showed up at the residence. The confinement and assault of the victim occurred over several hours throughout the early morning hours.

Subsequent to the arrest a search warrant was obtained at which time investigators and a forensic identification specialist conducted a examination of the property where the alleged offence took place.

32 year old Christopher Dillon Braun made his first appearance before a Judicial Justice of the Peace and has been remanded to appear in Cranbrook Provincial Court on Monday, November 24th, 2014.

The alleged suspect and victim are known to each other and this was not a random attack, S/Sgt. Dubnyk advises.
