The Cranbrook Transfer Station has been named one of Interchange Recycling’s Top Collectors for 2024.
Interchange Recycling (formerly the BC Used Oil Management Association) is a not-for-profit group dedicated to the collection and recycling of lubricating oil, oil filters, oil containers, antifreeze, and antifreeze containers in British Columbia.
“The Depot at the Cranbrook Transfer Station is a very busy site and we see many residents taking advantage of this eco-friendly and cost-effective way to recycle hazardous materials,” says RDEK General Manager of Engineering and Environmental Services Kevin Paterson.
The Annual Top Collector Awards recognize 30 Return Collection Facility (RCF) businesses for exemplary performance and commitment to the collection of used oil and antifreeze materials.
The criteria used for determining Top Collectors included:
• the total amount of used oil and antifreeze collected at the RCF location.
• the total number of years participating in Interchange Recycling’s RCF Program.
• a demonstration of continued support of Interchange Recycling and other recycling-focused stewardship programs.
“Thank you to our staff for working hard to provide a convenient, environmentally friendly, and easy-to-use facility for the public, and to residents for making the effort to reduce their environmental footprint,” adds Paterson.
