A night at Kimberley’s Dirtbag Festival is like no other — a chance to experience the a life of adventure through the eyes of those who truly live it — the dirtbags.
“The Dirtbag Festival is a celebration of the lifestyle that is so close to our hearts here in Beautiful Kimberley, BC.,” is explanation offered at dirtbagfestival.com. “Its a collection of film, images and stories by Dirtbags, those who are willing to sacrifice and drop at a moments notice: their jobs, their family, their income and their homes in search of adventure.”
“The film competition is open to short films highlighting the lifestyle, activities and places critical to sustaining dirtbaggery. The Community Show is a collection of images from local dirtbags and the cornerstone of the festival.”
The shows will take place at the Kimberley Conference Centtre on March 25 and 26, 2016. Tickets are $22.50 each evening.
Friday night features a presentation by world renowned athlete and adventurer Will Gadd. Music by Calgary band Burlap Sac as well as this years film submissions.
Saturday’s show is hosted by Dirtbag favorite Mitchell Scott and music by Kimberley’s The Hollers. It will feature this years film submissions, the popular Community Slideshow and awards for the film festival,
The call for entries for Dirtbag opened this week. The submission period is open until Feb 15, 2016. Submissions for the community slideshow will be accepted from Jan 1 – Feb 28. Both the film fest and slide show are free to enter with cash and prizes in both categories.
Dirtbag is looking for films a maximum of 20 minutes long. Photo essays or slideshows are asked to keep to a length of five to six minutes.
