Four arrested following large Fight in Cranbrook Park

Police are recommending various charges with the most serious being aggravated assault.

Four people were arrested and five taken to hospital after a large fight on May 15.

Police attended the fight at approximately 2:40 a.m. and found five individuals suffering from various injuries.  All five were transported to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

One of the victims suffered a significant head injury and remained in hospital however has since been released. Police located and seized a bat at the scene which is believed to have been used during this assault.

Through the course of the police investigation, four local individuals were identified as suspects.  All four have since been arrested and are in police custody.  Police are recommending various charges against these four individuals with the most serious being aggravated assault.

“There have been a number of incidents of violence in the city over the recent weeks and police believe this group may be responsible for much of it,” S/Sgt. Dubnyk said.  “We are urging people to come forward with any information they have pertaining to this incident or any other incident that has recently occurred.”
