On Monday, July 16, 2018 contract crews will begin fuels management projects in the area of Forest Crowne.

“These projects are necessary to reduce the amount of forest fuels to create a more fire resistive community,” said Fire Chief Rick Prasad. “Fuels management will consist of thinning the forested areas and chipping the piles. This is being done in order to limit the impact on the community from wildfire.”

Projects began in zone TU1 on Monday ad are expected to move up to zone TU2 by the end of the week. The zones are outlined in colour on the map (see image).

“For resident and contractor safety, trail access will be limited at times. In times of closure signage and flagging will be in place,” added Prasad.

The TU2 and Tu1 projects are expected to be completed in August.

“The City of Kimberley would like to thank you for your cooperation, if there are any questions please call the fire hall,” Prasad said.

The Fire Department can be reached at 250.427.4114 or email them at fire@kimberley.ca.
